$500 Million In Scrap - Wasted!
I've mentioned that the huge amounts of scrap materials left un-recycled represent vast amounts of lost money - frequently in the form of unclaimed beverage deposit funds. Hundreds of millions in point-of-sale deposits paid by consumers in California alone go untapped annually - on plastic containers. It turns out that the same is happening with aluminum cans - even though Al is more commonly recycled by the end user.
